Hi everyone,

On Tuesday September 1st, our world was turned upside down. My brother, Ethan Romero, was hit by a vehicle while walking as a pedestrian leaving his classes at the University of Wyoming. He was life-flighted to the trauma unit at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he remains in ICU care.

Ethan suffered significant trauma, including head injuries (fracture, swelling, and bleeding on both sides of his temporal skull), a broken clavicle, and a collapsed lung. Right now, the primary focus is on monitoring his brain state while he remains heavily sedated and intubated.

The positive news is that Ethan is stable, responsive to stimuli, and can move his limbs. The medical team is encouraged, and as of now, the neurosurgeon does not see an immediate need for surgery. He is receiving world-class care.

Our mom has been at the hospital in Loveland around the clock to advocate for Ethan and support his recovery. As you can imagine, the financial weight of an extended hospital stay is already building.
