- My name is Melissa Kennedy and my son Espen has been fighting Luekemia the last three years. He underwent a bonemarrow transplant in March of 2025. We were hopeful that it would be a success but we just learned last week that his cancer has returned and has been diagnosed as Myeloid Sarcoma. A mass at the base of his heart was found and it has also reached his kidneys and spleen. A brain MRI showed enlargement of the pituitary gland and surrounding areas. Causing him painful headaches. They have started intense chemotherapy and depending on how his body responds we are looking at several weeks or more in the hospital. If remission can be achieved then another bonemarrow transplant will be needed. Espen is a graduate of Beech Grove Highschool 2022 and a big brother to his two sisters. He absolutely is Spongebob's #1 fan. Thank you for your support and prayers.
