Support Esmeralda After Tragic Loss of Erick

I am writing this on behalf of Esmeralda. Esmeralda is currently living with my brother and sister-in-law, who are also her in-laws.

Esmeralda is a single mother of Erick (age 6) and a girl (age 7). Esmeralda and her young children arrived in the US less than a year ago without having other family members in the area. With the support of a few friends, Esmeralda and her young children were just beginning to get acclimated to their new home. Erick, like many students, had just finished school a few weeks ago and graduated from preschool, excited for kindergarten in September.

On June 20th, Erick tragically passed away in a car accident witnessed by his 7-year-old sister. Now, Esmeralda is working to process this tragic loss accompanied by a few friends living in Oregon. As a single mother, Esmeralda has the difficult and sole responsibility of laying her son to rest, a task no mother should experience. She plans to find a way to send his body to Mexico so that his family can say their final goodbyes and he can rest in a familiar place.

Besides suffering her own loss, Esmeralda also has the difficult task of explaining this to Erick's sister, who witnessed the tragedy. At age 7, she will have a long journey to grasp the events and heal.

Escribo en nombre de Esmeralda. Esmeralda vive actualmente con mi hermano y mi cuñada, que son también sus cuñados.

Esmeralda es madre soltera de Erick (6 años) y una niña (7 años). Esmeralda y sus hijos pequeños llegaron a Estados Unidos hace menos de un año sin tener otros familiares en la zona. Con el apoyo de algunos amigos, Esmeralda y sus hijos empezaban a aclimatarse a su nuevo hogar. Erick, como muchos otros, acababa de terminar el colegio hacía unas semanas y se había graduado en preescolar, entusiasmado por entrar en el jardín de infancia en septiembre.

El 20 de junio, Erick falleció trágicamente en un accidente de automóvil del que fue testigo su hermana de 7 años. Ahora, Esmeralda trabaja para procesar esta trágica pérdida acompañada de unos amigos que viven en Oregón. Como madre soltera, Esmeralda tiene la difícil y única responsabilidad de velar a su hijo, una tarea que ninguna madre debería experimentar. Planea encontrar la manera de enviar su cuerpo a México para que su familia pueda darle el último adiós y él pueda descansar en un lugar familiar.

Además de sufrir su propia pérdida, Esmeralda también tiene la difícil tarea de explicárselo a la hermana de Erick, testigo de la tragedia. A sus 7 años, tendrá un largo camino para asimilar los acontecimientos y sanar.
