Support Esme through cancer treatment
Donation protected
This week Esme’s parents Jade and Jake were given the devastating news that their 18 month old baby girl has a cancerous tumour on her liver, called Hepatoblastoma.
Esme was diagnosed after an MRI in Glangwilli hospital and has since been urgently transferred to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff where she has already undergone more scans and had a central line fitted ready to start chemotherapy immediately.
This course of treatment will be lengthy and very intense, at the moment doctors expect to treat her with chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumour once shrunk, followed by more chemotherapy. Esme and her parents will spend most of their time in hospital in Cardiff to be by her side.
This dreadful diagnosis has shaken the family, Esme has two older brothers at home in Lampeter. This will be an extremely difficult time on her siblings too as they will be separated as a family for long periods at a time, the hospital where Esme is treated is 2.5 hours away from their home.
Please consider donating to ease the financial pressure on the family as Jade and Jake will need to be off work to support Esme and her siblings. This money would be used to ensure bills are paid, travel costs are covered, a budget for Jade and Jake to afford to eat and drink whilst in hospital, some treats for the children and perhaps even a family day out to enjoy once Esme is well enough to leave hospital.
As a mother of a child who has had cancer twice, I know that finances need to be the last thing for them to worry about at this time. They need to focus on their little girl. Your help will eliminate so much pressure.
Any amount of money is so appreciated.
Childhood cancer costs families an estimate of around £600 a month in extra costs based on research by Clic Sargent.
Remember to donate blood and platelets to help children fighting cancer
