On February 3, 2026, my son Ervin’s life changed forever.
A fire tore through his apartment in Harvey, Louisiana, destroying his home and everything inside it. In just a few moments, he lost nearly everything he owned. But the most devastating loss—the one that hurts the most to even write—was his dog, Skye.
Skye wasn’t “just a pet.” She was his baby. His family. His constant companion for three years. She slept beside him, followed him everywhere, and was there for him through every high and low. Losing her has been the greatest heartbreak of his life—something he describes as losing a child. While belongings can be replaced, Skye never can, and that grief is something he will carry with him forever.
Ervin truly believed he had renter’s insurance because he had been paying an amount every month to the leasing office. After a deeper review of the lease, it was discovered that the complex was actually charging him a penalty for a lapse in coverage, not providing coverage at all—something he says was never clearly explained to him. Had he known, he could have reinstated his insurance for essentially the same cost. Now, because of this, he is left with nothing and no coverage to help him rebuild.
Ervin is a self-made local photographer and a young entrepreneur with a huge heart. He’s fun, loving, and always giving back to others—often offering free photography sessions, like Christmas family photos, to single mothers and families who can’t afford those memories. He’s always been the one showing up for others. Now he’s the one who needs help.
The funds raised will help Ervin:
• Find safe housing and cover move-in costs
• Replace basic clothing and daily necessities
• Begin rebuilding after losing everything
• Give Skye the proper burial services she deserves
My name is Adona Campbell, and I am Ervin’s mom. I’m organizing this fundraiser to help my son survive this unimaginable loss and start over with some stability and dignity.
If you can donate, we are beyond grateful. If you can’t, please consider sharing this. Every bit of support helps more than you know.
Thank you for helping my son during the hardest moment of his life.
