The largest expenditure for a group on the road is transportation. When dad and I started Ernie Couch and Revival back in 1993 we decided we would not charge for our concerts. The reason for this is, we understood how hard it was to keep a ministry up and going, and we did not want our ministry to be a burden on any other ministry. So all our concerts in churches over the last almost 40 years have been for love offerings or in the secular world, “tips.” Obviously it has worked out because we are still out there all these years later doing our thing. The gifts of people all over the country have always been a blessing and enough to keep the ministry of EC&R going. The one exception is transportation. It is such a huge cost as any one with a vehicle can relate to.

We have always tried to be practical and good stewards of what has been given to us. When the group became just dad and I we decided traveling in a van was the best route. We also try to get the most out of each vehicle. If it’s able to go, so are we. Our first van was a used green Chevy express. In the time we had it, we put a new transmission in it and drove it almost 600,000 miles before it could go no further. We then got the vehicle we are currently in, a used White Chevy Express van. We have put two transmissions in it and have over 400,000 miles on it as of today. For the last few years it has been giving us fits and we know it is on its last leg, which brings us to this.

We are asking, if you are able to and if God prompts you, to give to this transportation fund to enable us to secure some “new to us” transportation to allow us to continue to spread the gospel in song wherever the doors are opened.

You may not love the idea of traveling all over the country, but we do, and your giving is your way of being on the road with us. Your giving has always been as much a part of what we do, as our performing has been. So if you can we would appreciate your support on this matter.
