My name is Ernestina Guzman, and I’m reaching out during the most heartbreaking and overwhelming moment of my life. Recently, my boyfriend was shot and killed, and I was also shot in the same incident. The trauma has left me hospitalized with a broken femur, which required surgery and a stabilizing screw. I will be in the hospital for about a week and then placed in rehab for an unknown amount of time as I work to walk again.

I am a caregiver, but with my injuries, I can’t work or provide for my family right now. I am also the mother of 10 children, ranging from teenagers down to a 7-month-old baby. On top of everything, I’m now being forced to leave our home, as the homeowners no longer want me living there because of the tragedy that happened.

This has left me facing medical recovery, the loss of my partner, the responsibility of caring for my children, and now homelessness , all at the same time.

I am humbly asking for help with:

• Emergency housing for me and my children

• Basic needs such as food, clothing, and baby supplies

• Support while I’m unable to work due to my injuries

• Stability for my children as we rebuild our lives
