Our sweet 6-year-old pitbull, Eris, has been by my side through some of the hardest times in my life, especially during my infertility journey. She’s one of the many rescues I’ve taken in from shelters over the last 25 years since I was just 5 years old, with a special place in my heart for pit bulls who need that extra bit of love and care. Now, our strong girl Eris needs help.
For almost two weeks now, she hasn’t been eating, losing weight, and just hasn’t been her usual self. The only thing we’ve been able to get her to keep down is a small jar of baby food, which we’ve had to syringe-feed her just to keep her going. Today, an X-ray showed that her spleen is enlarged. We are currently waiting on an ultrasound in the next couple days, but it seems that she’ll likely need a splenectomy (spleen removal) to give her the best chance at recovery (best case scenario!)
Eris has been through so much these last couple weeks, but she’s still fighting, and we are doing everything we can to help her heal. She’s given us so much love, support, and comfort when we need it most, and now it’s our turn to be there for her.
Unfortunately, the vet bills are starting to pile up—from vet visits, medications and tests to the ultrasound and possible surgery. I’ve always stepped up to rescue animals in need, never thinking twice, but now we need some help to make sure Eris gets the care she deserves.
If you’re able to donate or share her story, it would mean the world to both of us. Thank you for your kindness and support in helping Eris keep fighting.
We are asking for help with part of what we have paid to the vet so far and the upcoming ultrasound. Each visit so far has been just under $300 and the upcoming ultrasound is estimated at $771. The spleen removal is estimated between $2-4,000, we are still unsure of the final cost until the ultrasound results. Thank you for any help, even a share is appreciated!
