UPDATES: Erinn has begun her cancer preventive treatments, beginning with MRIs and blood work. Her Oncologist says "no news is good news!" We continue to be hopeful that this rare cancer has not spread and attack her liver. Starting this month, Erinn will begin the 5-step process of receiving her prosthetic eye. Please continue to have Erinn in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for sharing this journey with us. The support has been astronomical and we couldn't be doing this without any of you!
Ocular Melanoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that affects about 7,000 people world wide annually.
Erinn was diagnosed with cancer on June 10th, after a tumor ripped through her retina and macula and she lost her vision. The tumor was the size of a shelled peanut. Our only option was to remove the eye along with the tumor. Her eye removal surgery was on 7/29 and continues to recover.
We are thankful that we caught it early and are hopeful that the pathology reports are negative of the cancer spreading.
My heart is filled with a mix of emotions—love, concern, and an unwavering pride in your strength. Hearing the word "melanoma" shattered my world, but it also opened my eyes to the incredible person you are. This journey is not just about the challenges you face; it’s about the resilience and courage that shine through you every day.
I want you to know that you are not alone in this fight. We are a team, and together we will face each day with hope and determination. Your spirit, your laughter, and your beautiful smile are what keep us all going. It’s in those moments of laughter, in the quiet times we share, that I see your remarkable ability to find light in the darkness.
As you navigate this path, know that it's okay to feel a range of emotions—fear, anger, sadness—but also hope and strength. You are so much more than this diagnosis; you are a warrior, a beacon of love, and an inspiration to everyone around you. Your bravery inspires me and reminds me of the importance of cherishing each moment, celebrating every victory—big or small.
We will tackle this together, step by step. With every treatment, every doctor’s appointment, and sometimes even through the tears, we will find our way. And I promise that on this journey, we will create memories, share laughter, and hold onto the love that binds us.
You have an incredible support system. Please lean on us whenever you need to. We believe in you, and we will fight with you every step of the way.
I love you daughter!
