Help a Mother Fight Stage 4 Melanoma

Hi, my name is Erin Lynn, and I’m reaching out during the most challenging time of my life. I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma, that has spread to various major organs of my body and I began immunotherapy treatments to fight this aggressive cancer. However after just two rounds of immunotherapy treatments I was then told after genetic testing, I have a mutation of melanoma that causes my cancer to grow more rapid than other patients. My oncologist then stopped all current immunotherapy treatments to begin a targeting drug treatment to stop the growth of my cancer from rapidly spreading. So far this treatment is going well on some swelling masses that occurred from my prior treatments have disappeared. However my oncologist at University of Tennessee cancer institute told me this is a very very expensive treatment and runs $25,000 a month and $300,000 a year for this medication.

And as a mother, my greatest wish is to continue being here for my family, but this journey may bring overwhelming emotional and financial stress and I hope to keep my life as normal for my family as possible during this time. And planning for the unknowns for them. I am currently not able to work as my cancer has grown to so many organs of my body, my body is only allowing me to function with one healthy lung, but it has spread to my lung, spine, kidney, liver, pelvis, groin, all across my chest, and in my bones.

The cost of ongoing treatments, medications, and regular appointments will add up quickly. On top of that, we are still trying to manage the monthly bills that come with maintaining a home and providing for my children. As my ability to work has become non existent, the burden will grown heavier.
