Support Erin and Ross Wassink and Their Family

My name is Jenny and Erin is one of my dearest friends. I refer to her as my 'joyful' friend because she is so full of life and laughter and abundant love for her husband and five kids. Over the past several weeks, Erin has been experiencing neurological symptoms that progressed over the weekend to the point of her being unable to use her arms or legs, resulting in a trip to the emergency room and subsequently a hospital stay. All test results have been negative (CAT scan, MRI, lumbar puncture, and multiple labs), but the symptoms persisted and worsened over the following days. She has been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, which happens when the brain and body are so stressed that the brain doesn't 'fire' correctly along normal pathways, resulting in the symptoms of paralysis, speech difficulties, and siezure-like behavior. While it's a blessed relief that her brain, spine, nerves and muscles are physically healthy, the recovery from FND is going to take time, rest, and plenty of physical and emotional treatment. Erin is currently at Holland Hospital waiting on a plan for her transfer to an appropriate facility for inpatient treatment so that she can eventually go home.

The Wassink's face a bit of a road ahead while they make decisions for Erin and for their family moving forward. We are looking to bless this family financially as they face the loss of Erin's income for an undetermined amount of time. Insurance deductibles for this year and next, gas for the trips back and forth to Grand Rapids where she will eventually receive treatment, and other incidental expenses will add up quickly and we'd love to help defray that cost as much as possible.
