If you don't know me, my name is Bill Curtis. I'm a longtime friend of Erik Laurentz. I'm setting up this Gofundme because he's in desperate need of help.

Erik was recently involved in an auto accident. He was on a rent-a-scooter in the Cebu area of the Philippines. Someone smashed their car into him and fled the scene. It left Erik smashed up along with the scooter. His wallet was lost, or stolen in the process of everything. I found out about all of this from his friend Jimmy, who Erik used as his emergency contact. Erik had recently lost his cellphone before this, so the only way we have been able to communicate is when Jimmy has been at the hospital with him. She has to work and can't be with him 24/7, but Jimmy has been a lifeline to Erik so he can get through this. Erik suffered a bad tibia fracture and a broken big toe. He's also overall banged up and has broken a tooth.

I've sent what I could to him so he could get X-rays to verify what was wrong, and cover his surgery and casting. Jimmy was able to enroll Erik in a program to reduce his hospital expenses, which saved thousands of dollars. Erik thinks he owes around the equivalent to $1000 US, but still has to go to follow ups for his leg. He could not afford the metal hardware that was really needed for his leg, so hopefully his leg will heal correctly. Unfortunately he's in a 3rd world country and hospital care is not the best. The whole time he was at the hospital, he was in a big room with about 30 other people, with no curtains, no tv, and not the best ventilation.

Fortunately Erik is back at his place, which is basically a boarding room of sort. He's gonna try to get some crutches. They didn't give him any at the hospital. He's very immobile. Jimmy is staying with him as much as she can, but she still has to leave and go to work.

What I'm asking of you is if you're motivated to help Erik at all, doesn't matter if it's $5, $20, or whatever, please contribute. I will Western Union the funds to Jimmy to help Erik. Ultimately Erik needs to come back to America. He's also suffering from bad foot neuropathy, and has been hospitalized a little while back due to a bad infection in his foot. He had to sell his iPhone to pay for that hospital bill, and then unfortunately lost the cheaper phone he bought to replace his iPhone. The main thing is to get Erik through this. He was planning on getting a job to work remotely again so he can pay for coming back to America, but due his worsening medical conditions, he needs to come back to America ASAP. It looks like we have his plane ticket covered, however he has huge fees he needs to cover seeing he overstayed his visa. If he doesn't cover them, he cannot leave the country.
