How it started...
November 6 2023 Erika went to the emergency room due to unusual body swelling. While in the ER they discovered a blood clot in her neck which led to additional testing. After an X-ray and CT scan they found a mass in her chest and she was then admitted to the hospital. The following day Erika had a puncture biopsy done, however the results came back inconclusive and she was scheduled for a surgical biopsy where they removed a part of her rib to retrieve the tissue. After 5 days of impatiently waiting the results came back and Erika was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma at the age of 36.
With an official diagnosis Drs created a plan to treat her type of lymphoma. Erika then had to complete a series of additional tests to make sure her body was strong enough to handle the treatments. She then had a procedure where an Internal Jugular Central line was placed in her neck. The IJ is used to deliver medications and other treatments directly to the large central veins near your heart. Erika then started her first round of chemotherapy.

How it's going..
After ultrasounds, CT scans and the completion of her first round of chemo Erika was able to go home after almost a full month stay in the hospital. Continuing her fight at home Erika faced the side effects from her chemo the most significant being the loss of her hair.
Next Steps..
Erika is set to begin her next round of chemotherapy which will be delivered through a PICC line that was placed in her chest. She is also scheduled for a consultation for a Bone Marrow transplant.
With the love and support from her family and friends Erika will continue her Fight against Lymphoma.
Your donations will help pay for treatments, surgeries, hospital stays and other additional medical needs.
Erika would like to thank everyone for their continued love and support during this challenging time. Your prayers and well wishes mean more than you can imagine.
