Support Erika Amalfitano's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Hi Everyone! My name is Erika Amalfitano and I created this GoFundMe account to raise money to help with my breast cancer treatment.

My Story:

I’m 30 years old and work as a medical assistant at a primary care office in Hockessin, Delaware. Many friends and family know I moved out and into my first apartment on April 15th, 2024.

On April 18th, 2024 I noticed a lump in my right breast while changing clothes. Working in the medical industry I knew I needed a doctor's opinion and immediately scheduled an appointment with my PCP the next day.

On April 24th I went for a mammogram and breast ultrasound confirming the lump is 2.2cm. Immediately I was told the results of both were abnormal and I would need to schedule a breast biopsy on the lump.

On April 29th I had the breast biopsy and on May 2nd I received the call from my doctor that the pathology report showed the lump was breast cancer. The next day on May 3rd I met with a breast surgeon to discuss the next steps and a treatment plan.

On May 6th I received the call from my doctor that the full pathology report came back confirming I have Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer and it's growing aggressively.

Over the next few months, I will first undergo chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and then a double mastectomy with full breast reconstruction. My first appointment with oncology is on May 16th. Before starting chemo I plan to explore fertility options as they may not be available post cancer treatment. My appointment with the Delaware Institute for Reproductive Medicine is on May 15th.

All funds will go towards my medical expenses (prescriptions, medical bills, egg freezing, etc.), food, and necessities I may need during the treatment.

I’m so grateful I noticed the lump when I did and I am grateful for any support through what will be the most difficult time of my life.
