Support Erika During her Cancer Treatment and Recovery

Donation protected
If you know my mom, Erika Goodman, you know that she has spent her life caring for others. Now she is the one needing care. You may know her from a yoga or meditation class she leads, or through her Body and Sole Wellness business – where she does reflexology and other complementary therapies. Maybe you know her from Gimli or Winnipeg, maybe when she was an Educational Assistant or Recreation Programmer.

Of course, when we heard of her cancer diagnosis in May of 2024, we were all in shock! Erika not only encourages a healthy lifestyle, she lives one herself. But challenges happen, and Erika readily accepted her plight and proceeded to ramp up her self-care activities while searching for anything and anyone who could help, traditionally and non-traditionally.

All summer long, Erika and her team of practitioners worked towards alkalizing her body, boosting her immune system, ridding herself of toxicity, and releasing emotional blockages – with the full belief that when given the right ingredients, the body would heal itself. Even though the pain was increasing and starting to impact her ability to work and play, she remained positive that the cancer was shrinking…

Unfortunately, an MRI in Sept. 2024 showed that the tumors had grown. By October, they were causing so much pain in surrounding areas that Erika had to completely stop working. Even walking and standing were, and still are a challenge. Sitting is impossible. Erika stopped driving. She spent all of her time at home, lying down… brain fuzzy from pain, bedsores creeping in. Erika never had to deal with a lack of mobility and pain for so long before and never used pain medication. Finally, Erika agreed to try pain medication and with such great relief, is now able to converse without writhing in agony. Her mobility is still an issue due to the location of the cancer.

On December 30, Erika will begin her Radiation journey – 5 days a week for 6 weeks, followed by a recovery period that may last 6 months. She has consented to receive conventional treatment and will continue with her complementary protocols as well. Again, remaining positive, as we all do.

Here’s where you can help… Erika hasn’t worked since September and the bills keep rolling in. She has accrued substantial debt in the summer and fall (appointments, supplements, treatments) and will not be working again until fully recovered, most likely in the summer of 2025. Erika needs her regular living expenses covered – utilities, food, shelter – along with her special requirements of supplements, vitamins, pain meds, and treatments – none of which are covered by insurance or subsidies. Can you help to keep Erika’s living expenses covered so she can fully focus on healing and recovering?

Please consider donating to support Erika Goodman, our dear mother, friend, teacher, and all-around fun-loving goofball. Any amount is greatly appreciated! And if you can’t afford a donation of cash, my mom would want you to pay it forward in acts of kindness to one another. Keep the love and generosity flowing! <3

Thank you so much!
