Everyone that enjoys a good musical here in the Erie PA theater scene, wether it be at one of the community theaters, or at one of the local colleges or high schools has probably been treated to the percussion stylings of Liz Alward .
All of the local theater musicians here love what we do, and a good deal of it is pure volunteer work, and the gigs that are not, are usually a small stipend. In the percussion world, there are many specialized instruments called for in different shows. Unfortunately, the places that you can get said instruments always want money in return, which is where this fundraiser comes in.
Liz is currently in the market for a pair of mini snare timbales to be used in a couple upcoming shows. There don’t seem to be any being offered for loan, so if we theater aficionados want the right sounds, a set will have to be purchased. If a bunch of us chip in a small amount, I’m sure we could make it happen. The goal is around $300, easy enough for a crowdfunding situation, but not always a gimme for a local musician to pull out of their own pocket when the demand for such things is there.
As of the time of my writing this, Liz has no idea I had this idea, so it wasn’t her idea to come up with this idea.
So what do we say? Does the Erie theater scene deserve to have the right tools to put on the incredible performances that we do? If yes, let’s help out one of those that make it all possible!!
