Please help keep this sober dad in Ruby's life.

As a dear friend of Eric's, I ask that you consider giving Eric a hand up when he needs it most.
Financial stress is overtaking his needed focus on sobriety.
Depression is compounding the worry for how to cover life essentials while getting back on his feet.

Please help in any amount you can afford.
Maybe it's the cost of a meal you would happily treat Eric to or the gas money you would fill his tank with so he can shuttle Ruby.

He would not ask for help, but I am on his behalf as he needs us to lift him up and let him focus on his recovery.

The Why:
Eric is a beloved son, a great friend to many, and most importantly, Ruby's daddy.

Eric is also an alcoholic with major depressive disorder.

This year, he accepted the reality that he had a deadly addiction to alcohol that required treatment, or he would not be here to see his dear Ruby grow up.

He worked incredibly hard to get sober, attending in-patient and outpatient classes daily. The price of recovery is steep. After cumulative six-week care at Hazelden Betty Ford, he left with bills over $6,000, past due rent and utilities, job loss, health insurance loss, and savings lost to the addiction.

Financial stress weighs heavy and creates a cloud that makes sobriety incredibly hard.

Eric awaits Veterans Administration (VA) benefits predicted to take a year and unemployment on a three-month backlog. He spends days searching for work, attending AA meetings and working to sell valuables to cover daily gas and groceries.

While alcohol addiction is now recognized as a disease and science backs that there is a genetic predisposition for alcohol dependence, financial tools have not been set up to support people coming out of recovery.

Please help bridge Eric's financial need and give him hope to sustain focus on sobriety.
