On Wednesday November 6th, Eric was at work when he suffered debilitating symptoms of a stroke and was rushed to the emergency room. He was having a severe headache, numbness and tingling, weakness and unable to walk, vertigo, vomiting, sensitivity to light, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing and confusion. After two days and multiple scans and testing, they have finally found the source and he has been diagnosed with a Brain Stem Stroke. This is a rare type of stroke, only effecting about 10-15% of stroke victims. He is still admitted in the hospital while they wait on further testing to decide the type of treatment he will need to start his recovery. He has already started with speech and physical therapy. Each day he is seeing some small improvements. We are praying that he does not have to have surgery for a stent placement, but that is still a very real possibility. His recovery is still very uncertain while we wait for more answers.

Eric will be out of work for an extended period of time while he is healing, which all depends on how much functionality he can regain. He will also be depending on Andrea's care once he is able to be home and she will be unable to work during this time. His medical bills will be extensive due to the type of hospital care needed for an emergency like this, as well as the long term treatments that will be necessary to rehabilitate his body from the stroke damages.
