Hello friends,

Some of you might be aware that our family has been dealt a tough situation over the last few months. In late February, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Along with the cancer, the doctor found a tumor close to my spine. Over the next few days, I had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor, and because of my spine being compressed, a plate and screws were put in my back for stability.

Jeanna, Hazel, and Lagana have been my spiritual, mental, and physical support since the second we found out what this diagnosis truly meant. They have done for me what can only be described as 100% selfless support. My love and appreciation for them cannot be overstated.

The next step for me is to remain strong during the many treatments that I have ongoing and coming my way. After surgery, I was set up for radiation therapy, which went well, and will have 5 rounds of chemo through the summer.

I have many thanks to give, and a long list of family and friends that, upon learning our situation, helped us tremendously.

Both of our work families, thank you! The support we received and accommodations to allow us to process and start our cancer fight means the world to us. Our family, close friends and neighbors created a bubble around us, kept eyes on Hazel and filled our refrigerator.

The financial burden that our family has incurred has been incredible. While having insurance helps, there is still a large difference in what is and what is not covered. The surgery, radiation, and treatments have brought the medical bills to a level that seems insurmountable for Jeanna and me.

The future is uncertain, and we are truly looking forward to being able to thrive again with friends and family, but we need help. My inability to work has put us in a one-income situation and life is demanding.
