Support Erick: A Good Man Separated from Family

My husband of 23 years and I went in for a mandated I-130 interview on May 12, 2025 after years of contemplating and living in fear. We came prepared with necessary documents, family pictures, our marriage license among many many others. We were initially set to interview on April 18th but the interview was postponed as they had not yet received the paperwork necessary for review prior to meeting with us.

The interview was going well, seeing as we have been married so long and know one another's quirks and mannerisms. Then, the officer asked my daughter and I to step out of the room as he needed to ask my husband, Erick, some questions individually. We were told to wait in the waiting room, where we waited for some time before being escorted into the hallway by the officer who conducted the interview and another woman holding a brown paper bag.

They let us know that Erick was detained and would not be coming home with us, the most heartbreaking news I could have never imagined to receive. I miss my husband so dearly, he is a good man and father with no criminal record, who always goes out of his way for others and makes it a point to build lasting relationships. We have been on the phone nonstop with lawyers looking to reopen his case, we greatly appreciate any kind of donation you can make to our family at this time in regard to seeking legal help and going forward with a motion to reopen his case. Mi esposo desde hace 23 años y yo asistimos a una entrevista obligatoria del formulario I-130 el 12 de mayo de 2025, después de años de contemplarlo y vivir con miedo. Fuimos preparados con todos los documentos necesarios, fotos familiares, nuestra licencia de matrimonio, entre muchos otros. Inicialmente teníamos la entrevista programada para el 18 de abril, pero fue pospuesta porque aún no habían recibido los documentos necesarios para revisarlos antes de reunirse con nosotros.

La entrevista iba bien, ya que llevamos muchos años casados y conocemos muy bien las manías y costumbres del otro. Luego, el oficial pidió que mi hija y yo saliéramos de la sala, ya que necesitaba hacerle unas preguntas a mi esposo, Erick, de manera individual. Nos dijeron que esperáramos en la sala de espera, donde estuvimos un tiempo hasta que el oficial que condujo la entrevista y otra mujer con una bolsa de papel marrón nos escoltaron al pasillo.

Nos informaron que Erick había sido detenido y que no volvería a casa con nosotras, la noticia más desgarradora que jamás imaginé recibir. Extraño muchísimo a mi esposo; él es un buen hombre y padre, sin antecedentes penales, que siempre se preocupa por los demás y se esfuerza por construir relaciones duraderas. Hemos estado al teléfono sin parar con abogados tratando de reabrir su caso. Agradecemos profundamente cualquier tipo de donación que puedan hacer a nuestra familia en este momento, ya que estamos buscando ayuda legal y avanzando con una moción para reabrir su caso.
