Hi, my name is Christina, and I’m writing this on behalf of my wonderful boyfriend, Erich.
Erich is 29 and has been living with constant, debilitating pain from severe spinal damage. His condition has progressed so much that he can’t sit upright, struggles to sleep, and is mostly confined to bed. It’s been heartbreaking to watch someone I love lose access to the simple things that make life feel normal. Going outside, seeing friends, even standing long enough to cook a meal all have become excruciating.
Over the past several months, Erich has already spent thousands of dollars out of pocket on physical therapy, nerve studies, epidural injections, medications, and consultations with specialists. Despite following every conservative treatment step doctors recommended, his insurance has continued to deny the one procedure multiple spine surgeons agree could provide meaningful relief: artificial disc replacement surgery. These denials don’t reflect the reality of his condition or his treatment history. With every month that passes, his pain worsens and his need for surgery grows more urgent.
This GoFundMe exists to help Erich manage the uncovered expenses of living with this condition day to day while he fights for the care he needs. Donations here will support the many practical needs tied to his injury and recovery. Things like medical-related costs not covered by insurance, transportation, equipment or tools that make daily life possible, and other essential expenses that allow him to focus on healing.
