Support Erica's fight against Leukemia
Donation protected
On behalf of our sister, Erica, we are writing to share an update with her circle of support.
As you all know, in March of 2024 Erica was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Since then she has received tremendous care at MD Anderson in Houston and now Memorial Hermann Hospital. Unfortunately, Erica has encountered her share of challenges along the way which is not uncommon when receiving Leukemia Treatment.
These challenges include life threatening pneumonia, (which she already beat!), drugs that have wreaked havoc on her kidneys and heart, and two different blood clots ( that are now gone! ). These along with other setbacks have caused Erica to be hospitalized seven times during this process.
The most recent event has been that she has developed Advanced Heart failure. After receiving the news from Memorial Hermann Hospital where she has been treated since December 17th, 2024, she has undergone a Mitral valve clip procedure and experienced many difficult conversations with Physicians on her case.
As of January 14th, 2025, a medical board with multi specialty doctors from both MD Anderson and Memorial Hermann have determined it is best to allow her heart time to heal and focus on getting to remission of leukemia. She will undergo two rounds of chemotherapy, allowing her heart time to fully recover with the help of her CCM and medication. The hope is full recovery of her heart and full remission status of her leukemia.
It is important to note that Erica's Leukemia treatment plan must remain at the forefront as beating Cancer is the ultimate goal for her long-term prognosis.
As Erica continues to fight for her life, please join us in our efforts to make this journey a tiny bit easier, and to ensure that Erica can focus on what is truly important: her healing.
With great gratitude and love,
