If you know Erica and Joon you have probably been helped and cared for by them at one time or another. That is who they are. They are helpers who spread warmth and joy wherever they go.

I met Erica one afternoon while attempting to walk my new rescue dog, a very nervous and high strung pup that had me hiding every time another dog walked by. We were struggling and Erica was so kind to me and my dog...asking if she could take the leash and providing the calm and expertise only a deeply caring human can possess. We have been friends ever since.

As long time animal rescuers Erica and Joon have taken in many homeless dogs over the years and have helped hundreds more through rescue and often on their own dime. They do this with love and without asking for anything in return.

During the Eaton fire, while Joon went to work in the community as a career firefighter, Erica drove around their neighborhood... embers flying....rounding up elderly neighbors and their pets and loading them in her SUV. She made sure the people, the cats, the dogs...her friends...all had a safe place to stay even as the blaze whipped flinchingly close to her own home and as her asthma flared in the thick smoke.

It is with this spirit that I now ask for help on behalf of my dear friends. Erica and Joon's beloved dog Bella has cancer. Throughout her diagnoses and through the treatment she has had so far the vet bills have begun to pile up.

They rescued her 6 years ago and she means so much to them. She has waffles with them every Sunday and goes with them on trips to the beach. Bella is their family. They love her and want to care for her the best they can for as long as they have with her.

I am asking for your help on their behalf so they can do this in the most meaningful way for themselves and Bella.
