On October 2, Eric Ziegler’s life changed in an instant when his food truck, Stuffyman’s Vegan Stuff, exploded at the Shakori Hills Grass Roots Festival in Pittsboro. A propane tank leak caused the blast, leaving Eric with burns on 30% of his body. He is now facing a long road to recovery at the NC Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, where he will remain for several months undergoing intensive treatment and rehabilitation.
Eric is well known in the Chapel Hill community for his kindness, generosity, and infectious smile. As an avid pickleball player, he spends countless hours at Piney Woods Pickleball Courts, teaching both adults and children how to improve their skills and encouraging everyone he meets. Eric’s dedication to helping others extends beyond the courts—he spent many years as a teacher in the Chapel Hill Carrboro school system, operates his beloved food truck, and is also a yoga instructor. His positive spirit has touched the lives of so many, both on and off the court.
Now, Eric needs our help. The funds raised will go directly toward his medical bills, rehabilitation, and essential living expenses while he is unable to work. Eric has always been there for his community, and this is our chance to rally around him in his time of need. Every contribution will make a difference as Eric works toward healing and getting back to the people and activities he loves.
