Our friend Eric Yamamoto underwent emergency heart surgery last April and your financial and emotional support in the Spring made a difference!

In November 2025, he underwent his second cancer-related surgery at UCSF (which had been postponed from April due to his heart surgery) and had to rehabilitate at the same center in San Francisco with daily care. The rehabilitation and care were not covered by insurance and the costs are approximately $25,000.

I had a chance to see Eric twice in San Francisco and he is doing much better. Hopefully, this is the last of his medical challenges. After a career mentoring students and writing important books and articles on civil rights, retirement has not been as smooth as he would like.
