Support Eric Torres' Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hi, I am Katherine Torres and I am raising funds for my father, Eric Torres. He suffered a massive stroke in September 2024 and is finally home from the rehabilitation center. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the stroke, my father is unable to work right now. We are hoping he can recover enough to return to his job as a math teacher, but it will take a few months of speech, physical, and occupational therapy in the meantime. I am hoping to raise funds to cover his medical bills, housing, food, and health insurance for the next 6 months.
My dad has been a math teacher for the past 25 years. He has always had a love of teaching and was a big proponent of online learning long before COVID. He has taught at Paxon School for Advanced Studies and Santa Fe College. Every day he is working hard to get better, and I know part of that is his desire to return to teaching. Every time he sees his work badge or work computer, his eyes light up and he points over to it. If not for that passion, I would encourage him to take an early retirement, but I know he cares too much for his students to let this stroke stop him. He really loves being a teacher and I think he is strong enough to make a full recovery.
Our expected cost breakdown:
Health Insurance: $800/month
Specialized Diet/Grocery: $200/month
Other Living Expenses: $800/month
Specialty Equipment: $1,000 - $2,000
