On June 1st, our friend and brother Eric Smith was admitted into the hospital with complications from a mass discovered inside his right lung a few weeks prior. After weeks in the hospital, tests, monitoring, biopsy and surgery to install a chest tube, it was discovered the mass was an infection that had spread from inside to out of the lungs. In the body’s attempt to fight it a membrane formed around the lung causing air restriction and collapse around the lung. Surgery was performed to remove the membrane and infection from around the lung. The procedure was a success and Eric is recovering nicely in the ICU of Dameron Hospital, awaiting discharge.
We are asking for help from Eric’s friends, family and community to raise money toward his medical expenses after this unexpected health scare. After 16 days in the hospital, there will be physical and respiratory therapy, post surgery recovery and in home care for the next 4-6 weeks. The good news is we are expecting a full recovery!
Update 1: I was released from the ICU and discharged on Father’s Day. I’m sore, but I am very glad to be home and breathing much better today. Thank you all for the prayers, kind words and support - Eric
