Hello, my name is Eric Selman. I am a 43-year-old husband and father of 8. My family is a blended family of my wife’s 4 children and 4 of my own. They range from the ages of 24 all the way to 9. I used to work in the hospitality industry as a chef. I have been in my career for over 14 years. I am a graduate of Atlanta Le Cordon Bleu.
On the morning of April 28th, 2025, I suffered a stroke at work. That caused a blood clot to the left backside of my brain, impairing my right (dominant) side. That also left me with severe nerve damage, and I found out I am diabetic along with having high blood pressure. My arm and leg on my right side are not as functional as they once were. I have found myself with such a heavy battle ahead of me.
Since then, I have not received any benefits from my job since I was only there for 8 months. I have burned through my savings providing for my family and the bills of our house. Before I became in my present form, I have always been a hardworking man when it comes to culinary skills or even things outside of that nature. My passion for cooking and food always had me on the clock making an honest living and in my family’s kitchen, making sure my family was able to enjoy the betterment of my craft. I always believed in showing my children to set an example of what hard work with true values looks like, along with our talks about life, their experiences, and interests. My wife has set in stone with me about legacies and family traditions, where I have a background that sheds no light into those great qualities. I have been a prideful man for working and having to find the love of my life along the way.
I am starting this GoFundMe page because the weight it has brought upon my family and all the resources I have gone to for assistance is extremely difficult. I have had my wife call so many places and reached out to many family members for help but haven’t gotten any back. If anybody can help us out, please, may God's blessings shine upon you and yours. I don’t want my family to struggle more than they already have and with more that can come.
