Some sad news from our family:

A couple of days ago, my brother-in-law, Eric Romo, went to the emergency department after experiencing a seizure at home, which fortunately his wife (my sister) Lindsay witnessed. Tragically, imaging studies found a tumor in the left frontal lobe of his brain. Based on the MRI findings, his medical team thinks it is most likely a low-grade glioma, a type of brain cancer. However, we won't know the diagnosis (or prognosis) for certain until they get a tissue sample and perform genetic testing.

We are obviously shocked. Eric is 35 years young, is a loving, kind, patient, outgoing, and truly fantastic husband (the only kind you want for your little sister), as well as a proud father of 3 young girls: Reese "Reese's Pieces" age 1, Charlotte "Charlie" age 3, and Quinn "Toad" who's 9.

Eric is a bright young man, a Harvard and UMass grad, who's currently working to complete his medical residency with a goal to give back to the community and focus his efforts and specialty on public health, aiming to help combat addiction on a systemic level. What a future he has in front of him!

Funds will be used first for medical care, including treatments that may not be covered by medical insurance, and then next to help cover bills and expenses related to Eric and Lindsay needing to take time off work, and cover increased care costs for their girls during this busy time for them. Any donation, large or small, is extremely helpful, and we are grateful for anything you can do.

If Eric and Lindsay are able to beat the cancer without expending all funds, the remainder of funds will be donated to a cancer research/treatment charity of their choice. Thank you!
