This GoFundMe is to support Eric Outcalt, who single-handedly saved numerous dogs and cats from the Pacific Palisades fire.

Eric is a pet lover and makes his income by walking and taking care of pets in the Pacific Palisades. On Tuesday, January 7th, the fire started in the Pacific Palisades, and thousands of people were escaping the flames and trying to get down the hill. But not Eric. He defied evacuation orders and stayed 2 extra days trying to rescue every pet in the neighborhood that he could. Eric was getting calls from strangers asking if he could go to their house and save their loved pets. He broke into numerous burning homes, risking his life for these animals. He finally drove back down the hill late Wednesday night with a Jeep packed full of animals.

Unfortunately, Eric inhaled a lot of smoke, and there appears to be significant damage to his lungs. He has also lost nearly all of his income as there are no homes or pets left to care for in the Pacific Palisades.

ALL of the money from this GoFundMe goes directly to Eric. The money raised will be used to give Eric a bit of a cushion as he gets back on his feet. I have never met Eric, but our lives are intertwined. My name is Aaron Samson, and I escaped from the Palisades fire with my father-in-law when the fire first started. We were forced to flee by foot, and a stranger, Andrew Lin, saw us struggling and gave us a ride. Andrew was trying to get up the hill to save his pets, but he could not go because of the flames. Eventually, someone told Andrew about Eric, who ultimately saved his two cats. Even though Andrew also lost his home, he is so grateful to Eric for saving his beloved cats, and both Andrew and I wanted to set up this GoFundMe to help out Eric.
