Support Captain Eric Johnson: A Pillar of Our Community Faces a Health Battle

My name is Kim Laughter-Foley, and I'm organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of our beloved Police Captain Eric Johnson and his wife, Candice. Eric has dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community as a true public servant. From leading in our local police department with integrity and compassion to volunteering his time on side hustles that benefit everyone—from youth programs to community events—Eric and Candice have always put others first. They've been the heart of so many initiatives that make our town safer, stronger, and more connected.

Tragically, Eric suffered a massive stroke recently, leaving him unable to return to work or his side gigs until at least January. This unexpected health crisis has turned their world upside down. As Eric focuses on his recovery through intensive therapy and medical care, the family is facing mounting medical bills, lost income, and everyday expenses without his steady paycheck and side hustles. With three children—two of whom are currently in college—the added pressures of tuition, books, and living costs are making this time even more challenging. Candice, Assistant Principal at Bragg Elementary in West Memphis and a devoted partner and fellow community advocate, is now shouldering even more while supporting Eric's healing journey.

Eric isn't just our Police Captain—he's a mentor, a friend, and a hero to so many of us. He's the one who organized neighborhood safety workshops, Christmas toy drives, coached little league teams in his spare time, and always showed up when someone needed help. Candice, too, has poured her energy into local causes, from food drives to supporting families in need, while shaping young minds as an educator in the West Memphis School District. They've given so much to us; now it's our turn to give back.
