Help Eric Houser Fight a Rare Medical Battle
If you know Eric Houser, you know he’s the kind of man who never hesitates to help others. A devoted husband, to Melinda and father of seven—Kenzy (22), Kaylee (20), Melissa (19), Eric Jr. (16), Owen (5), Aurora (2), and Kyle (24)—Eric has spent his life building up his small business and giving back to his community. He’s the proud owner of Xtreme Auto & Towing, and he owns race car #27, which competes in the Late Model Series at Stateline Speedway and Eriez Speedway. You’ll also find him cheering on his brothers, Scotty Dellahoy and Jimmy Diabo, from the stands.
Eric and his wife Melinda are dedicated foster parents and are currently in the process of adopting their youngest daughter, Aurora. They also have Kyle, who at 24 stands by Eric every day. Though not biologically his, Eric proudly considers Kyle his son in every way that matters.
Now, Eric is facing a rare and difficult medical journey, and it’s our turn to support him.
Eric recently discovered a lipoma under his chin, which his primary care doctor had been monitoring. When it was finally time to remove it, a CT scan revealed something far more serious: bilateral carotid body tumors—also known as carotid paragangliomas. These tumors are extremely rare, affecting fewer than 1 in 30,000 people, and having them on both sides of the neck is even rarer—only about 1 in 600,000.
After a difficult experience at a local cancer institute, Eric and his family found hope in New York City with world-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Philip Stieg. Eric has already undergone an embolization procedure and is now undergoing a major operation on October 28, 2025. He’ll be in the hospital for about a week, followed by a 2–3 month recovery period with strict physical limitations.
But that’s not all. Additional scans revealed tumors in both adrenal glands, a mass on his liver, and other concerning medical issues. Once Eric recovers from this surgery, his medical team will determine the next steps—potentially more surgeries, radiation, or other treatments.
Eric is a proud man who never wants anyone to feel obligated or think less of him. He said, “Don’t feel like you have to help—but if you do, I will appreciate all your help".
We’re raising funds to help cover travel, lodging, medical expenses, and the financial strain of being away from work during recovery. Every donation, share, and prayer makes a difference.
Thank you for standing with Eric, Melinda and his family during this difficult time. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
