Eric's Stroke Recovery - Help Him Keep His Pinky Promise

Donation protected
On the night July 8th, 2024, Eric Hazell, our awesome friend, incredible single father to his 9 year old daughter, and amazing all around person, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke to the left side of his brain. The bleed occupied an area of his brain which affected his ability to communicate and lose sensation on the right side of his body. After spending a week in the hospital, Eric was transferred to a dedicated rehabilitation facility to begin the next phase of his care: intensive in-patient rehabilitation. At the facility, Eric receives hours of therapy every day in a controlled setting while still receiving full medical observation with a doctor and nursing staff. He has been working on many things from a speech, occupational, and physical therapy perspective. This process is expected to last for several weeks until he is reevaluated to receive either sub-acute inpatient rehab or sent home for continued out-patient rehab.

His recovery process will take many months, and that is why we are reaching out to you for some help. We're asking for your donation to help support Eric through his recovery journey, as it expected to be long and arduous process. Eric will be out of work for many months as due to the complexity and unpredictability of brain injuries. On average, stroke survivors like Eric require over a YEAR of occupational, physical, and speech therapy in order to return to a sense of normal life. Like all 43 year-olds, he has bills to pay: food, rent, utilities, car lease, costs associated with raising his beautiful daughter, and more. However, unlike most people his age, he also has, and will continue to accrue, substantial amount of medical debt as he works through his long and difficult road to recovery.

Most of us don't know what it's like to have to relearn how to speak and walk. Many of us will never understand just how frustrating it is to recover from such a traumatic injury, only to have to do it over, and over, and over again. But we can all understand the stress of everyday life expenses especially in challenging times--and we are hoping you can help out with this small faction of Eric's recovery.
