Support Eric Hartline's Long Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, I am Leann Hartline, ex-wife of Eric Hartline. Eric was having back pain at the end of December, which was becoming worse. On January 3rd, he was in so much pain (now in his testicles) that he had a friend drop him off at Shasta Regional. He was admitted and there for 7 days on IV antibiotics. He had a urologist following him who was waiting for the swelling to go down (size of a large grapefruit) so he could do an ultrasound to determine if surgery would be indicated. During the time he was in the hospital, in excruciating pain and a terrible infection, an NP kept trying to discharge him.

On Friday the 10th, he called me and said he was being discharged! His urologist had no idea. He was still in pain, infection draining, and couldn’t walk. I picked him up to take him home, as he couldn’t take care of himself. Picked him up to find they had not prescribed any pain medication! After getting that resolved, getting him home, and assessing the situation, he was readmitted to Mercy on January 12th. He then had surgery on January 14th where they removed the infection, which included half of his scrotum. He had acute cellulitis, acute sepsis, and his MRSA cultures were off the chart. He has had a wound vac and catheter since his surgery. He was discharged from Mercy on January 19th. He has wound care three times per week, which has been excruciating and may need skin grafts in the future.

It is going to be a long recovery. State disability only pays so much and while he has insurance, he is still left with out-of-pocket expenses and has to continue to pay his bills and rent. Further, he was in the process of moving into a new place where he had the ability to make some extra money helping out on a ranch. That may not happen now as he is not able to do much with a wound vac and still fighting infection! I am helping as much as I can having him with me, but he needs help with his bills and medical care down the road to get back on his feet! Anything you can do would be much appreciated!
