UPDATE 9/7: Update from Kara Engblom, my brother’s wife:

Eric was admitted to the hospital yesterday as there is an infection brewing from a blocked stent in his bile duct. He is currently in the operating room for the ERCP to change it out. This is his 4th stent since June 4th. He will most likely be in the hospital for a few days after this.

He is supposed to start radiation Monday for 5 days in row at an hour each treatment. This radiation treatment is a guided MRI treatment.

We also got approval for a chemo/immunotherapy pill Krazati, it will be delivered on Tuesday and he can start to take it as soon as we get the okay from doctors because his liver enzymes spiked with the blockage. We are also waiting for approval to start Keytruda which is another immunotherapy that is targets his genetic gene CHEK2.

Please pray that he is able to get a permanent stent as it is more durable and will more than likely not get blocked, please pray he can start to take the chemo pills as soon as we get them, please pray his radiation shrinks the tumor and that insurance approves the Keytruda.

We thank you all from the bottom of our heart for everyone who has reached out, sent cards, offered help. We love you all!

UPDATE 8/30 from Eric: Haven't posted myself in a while, I know Kara Engblom has been keeping everyone well updated.

First and foremost thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for filling an entire 15'x7' wall full of cards of encouragement. Every word has meant the world to me to read. Thank you for the gifts, gift cards and dinners! A huge thank you for all the overwhelmingly generous donations to the GoFundMe Erin Nicole Gardner setup. Thank you for all the prayers, texts, messages, etc!!

Today I got 3 new tattoos for an intensive radiation therapy coming up. It'll be 5 straight days for an hour each time as opposed to 5 weeks of 15 minutes. At the same time we'll be doing a different chemotherapy as well as an immunotherapy pill targeting the KRAS GL12 mutation that I have which occurs in 1% of cases. The pill seems to work on mice and I'm not too far from a mouse so why not try it. All of this to hopefully maybe get to surgery.

Pulling out all the stops to stop this tumor from growing because at the moment it's aggressive and not slowing down. God's got this!!!

Love you all!

UPDATE 8/28:
My brother Eric Engblom got admitted to the hospital yesterday for blood clots. With his CT scan, it showed growth and more lymph node involvement. They sent out his biopsy again to further test it to get an official diagnosis.

As of now the diagnosis we are going with is sarcoma of the pancreas, which is very very rare, less then 300 cases per year.

Because of the lymph node involvement and growth he is not a candidate for surgery.

Our plan is to go in aggressively with radiation and chemo in hopes it shrinks it enough for surgery. We meet with his radiation oncologist and we are very impressed with his knowledge and bed side manners.

He is being discharged now.

Please continue to pray for answers, for the radiation and chemo to shrink it and our doctors ❤️

UPDATE 8/14: Eric started chemo 2 weeks ago and had an allergic reaction bad enough to put a hold on everything. His doctors came up with a concoction of meds in hopes to combat the reactions and he started chemo again today. Unfortunately this will mean appointments take 10 hours instead of 5. Eric is also unable to eat hardly anything. His pancreas is not doing its job which is making it extremely painful every time he eats. He has lost a significant amount of weight because of this. We are trying very hard to keep his spirits up. Please please please continue to pray.

Hello! My name is Erin. I’m starting this GoFundMe in hopes to raise money for my brother, Eric Engblom. Eric was recently diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer as well as cancer in the lymph nodes surrounding the pancreas. Eric is 46 years young and is a devoted son, brother, husband, father, coach, and friend. Please help us raise money to make his finances a little less of a burden during this difficult battle. If you cannot donate at this time, please say a prayer for Eric!!!

He will start chemo soon. I will update this page as much as I can.
