Our family is facing an unexpected medical crisis, and we are leaning on faith, hope, and the kindness of others to get through it.
Hello,
My name is Laura, and I am writing on behalf of my husband of 25 years, Eric Bow - the love of my life, father to our daughter Anna, and dog dad to our Husky, Judge. Eric is also a beloved brother, uncle; who’s nieces and nephews affectionately call “Uncle Dude.”
If you know Jackson, Wyoming, you likely know Eric. He is truly part of the fast-beating heart of this community.
Eric and I met in 1998 and were married in December of 2000. In 2006, Eric selflessly donated his kidney to his mother while she was suffering from PKD, just one example of the kind of man he is. A few months later, we found out we were expecting our daughter, which felt like a miracle in so many ways.
Eric is a rare person - kind, loyal, funny, hardworking, and deeply devoted to his family. He is passionate about his work as a snowmobile and ATV tour guide for Scenic Safaris, where he spends long days, often 12 to 14 hours, 6 or even 7 days a week, guiding visitors from around the world through Yellowstone National Park, the Tetons, and Gros Ventre, helping them fall in love with Jackson just like he did.
Now our world has been turned upside down.
Recently, while I was at the grocery store, Eric called and told me he thought he was having a stroke. We rushed to the ER, and within an hour we were given the devastating news that Eric has a large tumor on the left hemisphere of his brain.
The tumor has been affecting the right side of his body, causing symptoms like weakness in his leg, constant headaches, aches and pains- which we had previously chalked up to getting old. The tumor apparently has also been causing small seizures known as petit mal seizures. Doctors believe the tumor has likely been there for several years, but it now needs to be removed as soon as possible before there is irreversible damage.
We are currently facing this medical crisis without insurance, and every avenue we have explored so far has provided no coverage or financial assistance. Eric will need brain surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the hospital requires half of the funds upfront before the procedure can be performed - no exceptions.
While we are still waiting on an exact estimate, we do know the costs will be overwhelming. Between the surgery itself, travel expenses, and lost wages during his recovery (estimated at least four weeks), the financial burden is more than we can handle alone. Eric is our family’s primary breadwinner, and this sudden diagnosis has left us scared and uncertain about the road ahead.
We are reaching out with humble hearts, asking for help during the most difficult time of our lives. Any donation - no matter the amount - will go directly toward Eric’s surgery, medical expenses, travel costs, and supporting our family while he focuses on healing.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with others would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
With gratitude,
Laura
Thank you from the sincerest parts of our hearts, The Bows.
