I am starting a GoFundMe for Eric Bootz, who many of you may or may not know. I have been dating him for 10 years.

In March of 2025, after having severe back pain for 5 months, Eric finally got an MRI. It was found that his spinal cord, instead of being 20 mm in diameter, was being compressed to less than 5 mm. This is due to a degenerative bone disorder which allowed his vertebrae to, over time, crush his spinal cord and cause numbness and atrophy on the right side of his body. Without this surgery, he would have 5 years at most before he would become paralyzed. He has since found a great surgeon from Grand Rapids who came highly recommended and is very qualified to perform this Level 3 surgery. Because he needs this procedure done, he will have to shut down his business for 4 months as an independent contractor and builder, during which time he will receive no income. Fortunately, his health insurance is covering the operation, but he has no other benefits to assist in covering his expenses like rent, car note, car insurance, groceries, and miscellaneous expenses.
