Eowyn was diagnosed with pre-B ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) in May 2024, just a month before her 9th birthday. In July of 2024, she suffered 2 strokes as a complication of either leukemia or the treatment thereof.
Eowyn is a very special little girl. She has always been vibrant & full of life. As an infant, she proved to be brave, strong & a survivor when she suffered a near fatal volvulous (intestinal twisting) at age 2 months. After 6 weeks of hospitalization, she made a full recovery. Later, she was diagnosed with non-verbal autism & has made tremendous progress in communicating. She adores school & has been blessed with wonderful teachers & staff who reach her through her interests - she loves music, dance & art.
What began as a cough, that resolved with antibiotics & evolved into very swollen lymph nodes led us to the emergency room. The lab work there was alarming & led to referrals to see specialists located 2 hours away. After a biopsy was done on her lymph nodes, she was diagnosed with leukemia. The beginning of her chemo treatment involved a lengthy hospital stay & revealed some rather unique cytology - meaning that she is now classed as having a high risk form of leukemia (while pre-B ALL is generally classed as low risk). This means she will require an even more intensive treatment plan than originally anticipated. There will be multiple hospital admissions, all of them at a hospital 2 hours away from home.
I'm Ashlyhne, Eowyn's mother. I'm a single parent & unable to work for the foreseeable future. This fundraiser is on behalf of our family as we navigate this nightmare & hope for better days.
Prayers & shares are very appreciated.
