Support Enzo's Fight Against Kidney Disease

Hello, I am Samantha Gaitan-Castro and I would like to introduce you to someone. This is Enzo, my youngest son. He’s almost 2 years old, he is a sweetie who’s always happy for the most part. He loves to play outside with his siblings, and enjoys all the normal boy things like toy guns, trucks, and cars, his daddy is his best friend and he loves to watch Bluey together during our down time.

Enzo was recently diagnosed with a kidney disease called Nephrotic Syndrome. He has been struggling with this uphill battle to get this condition under control but has still managed to keep smiling and playing. He brings so much joy to our family and others that know him.

Enzo has become resistant to his current treatment so we are moving to the next steps which includes a biopsy and surgery to test his kidneys and do some genetic testing to determine what the best option would be moving forward.

We have and will continue to support our baby during this time while we navigate through this diagnosis, but we also need support from those around us. Our family is a single income household and I work 2 full time jobs to support us all and unfortunately don’t always qualify for help. I have to take time off of work, pay for childcare, transportation, some medications, and other unexpected expenses on top of our normal everyday bills and grocery’s. Given the current situation we are not only struggling with the emotional aspect of Enzo’s Nephrotic syndrome diagnosis but it’s also drained any/all of the little extra money and savings we had.

We don’t know what the future holds for our little one and we have tried to remain positive and strong, but as anyone in our position knows - it’s not easy.
