I am Cory Floyd. My wife, Alyssa, and I have been running the Englewood Cinema for 5 years now (our anniversary was on October 4th). We recently experienced a power outage, and then a surge brought on by city maintenance, which took out our cinema projector. It is not a new unit by any means and is now obsolete. Potential repairs would be costly and would just be a band-aid fix, if the attempted repairs even worked to bring it back to life. In order to get something new and not obsolete with a warranty, we would need to invest in a laser projector, which should last us at least 20-25 years, be a great upgrade, and have us ready for the future. This does not come cheap, however, and we are looking at $39,900 all in (projector, lens, advanced surge protection and install). Our ticket and concessions prices are incredibly affordable, which has a negative in that an expense of this size is very challenging for a family-owned, single-screen independent neighborhood cinema. We aren't going anywhere, but we sure could use a little help navigating this catastrophe.
