Dear friends, family, and potential donors,

First, thank you for taking time to read this. Any donation means a lot to my family and me towards my dream of becoming a professional musician.

I’m Emmy Rosario. A senior from Wilbur Cross High School and ACES Educational Center for the Arts (ECA) in New Haven, CT. This fundraiser is going towards a new French Horn as well as a professional mouthpiece and case that I can use for college and many years beyond. I know in order to be the best, I need the best tools. Unfortunately, I can’t afford this huge expense alone so ANY form of help is appreciated.

Since I began playing French Horn in Band in 5th grade I knew music was what I wanted to do with my life. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to enhancing my musicianship, technique, and becoming more versatile. I’ve picked up things like trumpet, being a drum major in my high school band, and conducting. This journey has been difficult; I’ve had lots of days of progress and lots of exhausting days. Though being a musician is full of hard work, practicing, and performing constantly, this never dampened my love for music. In eight years of pursuing this passion, it has not diminished my desire to create community within music. If anything, these challenges have strengthened my love for music and my dedication to it.

At my last All State festival, my conductor shared what resonated with her from a speech she heard about why music is important. She spoke about how each time we’ve suffered tragedy as a nation, music has been used to heal and connect. I’ve always felt so much for music and how it’s affected me as a person. Music helps me care more for others and my community around me.

Being able to own my own horn in college will be a blessing. My mom is the only provider in my household. She has been my greatest supporter. It’s not easy for us to produce this type of money but we understand how crucial it is in order for me to succeed. This horn will essentially be a long term companion and my partner for years to come. It will support my education and be loved and played every single day.
