Support Emmit Thorough His Leukemia Journey

Donation protected

Hi everyone. I'm "Auntie Andrea" (or as Emmit says "Annie-Ann-e-a") and I want to do whatever I can to help support my Sister, Angela Gagnon and her life-long partner, Brad Wright, their beautiful 11 year old daughter, Lilly Rose, and their amazing 4 year old son, Emmit. I ~ as I'm sure most of you ~ want to help this family but are not quite sure how....so I'm creating this 'Go-Fund-Me" account for the Wright family as a way and means for all of us to offer any kind of financial support we are able to give ~ $1 or $100 ~ would be such a huge help and will lift some of the financial burden that Angela and Brad will face over the next few years.

As most of you know, Emmit Aaron Wright was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) last Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Emmit was taken to the med center last Monday, July 12th because Angela thought he had a slight bug or a mild case of the flu going on but during a routine checkup at the med center they found that his appendix was on the verge of rupturing so they rushed him to Devos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. After a couple rounds of blood work prior to surgery to remove his appendix, the doctors noticed that his white blood cell count was extremely high. So last Tuesday morning while removing Emmit's appendix they also did a biopsy of his bone marrow and found out he had Leukemia.

This came as a total shock to Angela and Brad and all of their friends & family because Emmit has shown no prior signs of being sick let alone having cancer! He is a wild child that has always been so full of life and lots of typical boy-energy. So this was devastating news to all BUT it was also a blessing in disguise because by chance and an unfortunate appendix removal the doctors found Emmit's cancer very early!✨

Since removing his appendix, Emmit has also had to undergo a minor surgical procedure to get a Port put in to his chest ~ a medical device that makes giving him blood and platelet transfusions easier as well as him receiving his chemo treatments.

Emmit has started chemo as of last Friday, July 16th. The team of oncologists and doctors at Devos Children's Hospital are hoping to kill all cancer cells within the first month of him starting treatment BUT the road ahead will still be a long and tough one. Emmit will have to have chemo treatment for approximately another 2-3 years to ensure that the cancer goes fully into remission. This means the lil' guy will be in and out of the hospital for another couple of years.

Angela and Brad are fortunate enough to have insurance for Emmit BUT as we all know there will be unforeseen medical bills, travel expenses to and from Devos Children's Hospital, a lot of over-night stays in the hospital, food expenses, and the possibility of only a one-person family income since Emmit will need a lot of extra at-home care. So the bills and expenses will start to pile up fast and I am hoping and praying that we can all come together as family and friends and help alleviate some of their financial burden that is to come over the next few years and possibly the years to follow.

If you're unable to financially give to the Wright family, there is other ways to help as well ~ a simple text or card to let the know you are thinking about them; sending up prayers and healing vibes for our Lil' BUBBA Emmit; dropping off a casserole dish for a family dinner; offering to take big sis Lilly out for a play date; stopping over and helping with yard care or household chores....the ways to help them during the next few months is endless. (please feel free to contact me if you would like to help in other ways!)

Also we are in the beginning stages of planning a Benefit Fundraising Party for Emmit ~ this will be sometime in the last weekend of September or first weekend in October ~ so be on the lookout for more information to come. We will also be putting together / selling "Team Emmit Leukemia Awareness" T~shirts and Hoodies in the next few weeks....so a lot of opportunities to raise money for this family.

Also there is a "Team Emmit" Facebook Page now created and this is a good place for updates on his progress, treatment and Leukemia Journey as well as updates on the Life of the Wrights (Brad(dad), Angela (mom), and Lilly (big sis). This will be also be a good place to check-in on and find out more info on his benefit fundraiser party and t-shirt sales.

As we progress in these efforts to Raise Money for this Family and Bring AWARENESS about ALL to the community, I will be highlight some of the local Business' that have made the effort to support #TeamEmmit.
So a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the Idle Hour Restaurant in Spring Lake, MI for being the first in the Spring Lake, MI community to step up and help raise funds for this family.  Please visit and support this local establishment by visiting them often.  Thank you Ronnette for offering to do this for our lil Emmit Wright and his family!  Much love and gratitude.

Thank you all in advance for all your love and support you have for the Wright Family! They are wonderful people and are so blessed to have all of you as friends and family!

Sincerely ~ sister, sister-in-law & and auntie ~
