Help Support Emmilee, Charlotte, and Her Premature Twins
On September 19, 2025, my dear friend Emmilee welcomed two beautiful twin girls into the world-
Harper Dawnne Wilcox and Hazel Wren Wilcox-
six weeks before their due date of October 26. As a single mom, Emmilee has already been raising her sweet daughter Charlotte with love and strength. Now, she faces the incredible challenge of caring for premature twins while trying to keep her family afloat.
The Medical Journey
The twins arrived early and are currently in the NICU at Maine Medical Center in Portland, receiving the specialized care they need to grow strong and healthy. They were transferred there from CMMC in Lewiston to give them the best possible start. Doctors expect them to remain in the NICU for about four more weeks.
While this care is life-saving, it comes with unexpected hardships. Donor breast milk is only available at cost, meaning the twins must rely heavily on formula (provided by Maine Med), despite Emmilee’s dedication to pumping. On top of that, while staying in Portland to be near her babies, Emmilee isn’t provided meals or support with daily needs, adding more financial and emotional strain.
The Financial Strain
Emmilee has been working hard to create a safe and stable home for her children. On September 1, she secured her very own apartment—finally a place to call home. Just one week later, the twins arrived, turning her world upside down before she even had time to settle in.
Now, she only receives six weeks of paid time off from work at just 60% of her usual pay. Because she hasn’t been at her new job for a year, she doesn’t qualify for FMLA. And although Maine passed a Paid Family and Medical Leave program in 2023, benefits won’t be available until 2026.
With her twins expected to stay in the NICU for much of her leave, Emmilee may only get a week—or less—at home with her babies before having to return to work. She is trying her best to juggle hospital visits, traveling between Lewiston and Portland to see and care for Charlotte, and keeping up with bills, all while navigating the uncertainty of her babies’ medical journey.
How You Can Help
This is where our community can step in. Every donation will go directly toward:
• Covering lost income while Emmilee is on leave
• Helping with the cost of formula and donor milk
• Providing meals and daily necessities while she stays near the hospital
• Ensuring Emmilee has the time and resources she needs to bond with and care for her newborn twins and Charlotte without the crushing weight of financial stress
Why This Matters
Emmilee is one of the strongest, most loving moms I know. She has always given her all to her children, and now she needs the support of those around her. Even the smallest contribution can make a huge difference—whether it’s helping to cover a week of formula, groceries for Charlotte, or gas for the many trips back and forth to Portland.
If you aren’t able to give financially, please consider sharing this campaign so more people can see and support Emmilee during this incredibly difficult time.
Let’s come together and show Emmilee and her three beautiful girls that they are not alone, and that they have a community behind them as they navigate these early, fragile weeks.
