Help Emmett Recover and Get the Care He Needs ❤️
My name is Ashley, and I'm Emmett's mom. On October 17, our family's world was turned upside down when my little boy was seriously injured in an incident involving a dog. He suffered a devastating injury to his nose, losing the tip of it.
We were rushed into an experience no parent ever imagines having to face. Emmett was airlifted from our area to Seattle, where the medical team began the difficult process of treating his injury and rebuilding his nose. Although we're incredibly grateful for the care he's received, this is only the beginning of a long road to recovery. He is expected to need two to three surgeries over the next two years as well as multiple check ups/follow up appointments.
We live in Lewiston, Idaho, while Emmett's specialized care is in Seattle. That means repeated trips across the state, hotel stays, meals away from home, fuel, and other travel expenses just to get him to the appointments and procedures he needs. On top of that, we are facing the costs of his ambulance and Life Flight transportation, medical treatment, and future surgeries.
As a family, we're doing our best to navigate all of this while continuing to take care of our children and keep up with our everyday responsibilities. We already have bills and financial obligations, and this unexpected situation has added a tremendous amount of stress and uncertainty. We don't yet know the full cost of everything ahead of us, and that uncertainty is frightening.
We're asking for help to ease some of that burden. Donations will help us manage Emmett's medical and recovery-related expenses, travel to Seattle, and the financial pressures our family is facing as we prepare for the months and years ahead. By easing some of our financial obligations, we hope to free up more of our monthly budget to handle future medical needs and keep our household stable while Emmett gets the care he deserves.
Our biggest wish is to focus on our little boy, his healing, and his future without constantly worrying about how we'll manage every expense along the way.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean more to us than we can express. If you're unable to donate, sharing our story would help us reach other people who may be willing to support Emmett and our family.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our fundraiser, reached out, or kept Emmett in your thoughts. Every act of kindness makes a difference, and we are truly grateful for the support as we face this difficult journey together.
This was the day it happened.
This is right after they cleaned it and started the process.
This was literally 20 mins after it happened.
This is a couple days after surgery.
We've already begun receiving medical bills, and the financial impact of this experience is still unfolding. One hospital bill alone is approximately $60,000, and it is currently pending insurance review. We've also received bills for his first surgery and additional emergency care, while we're still waiting for the costs of Life Flight, ambulance transportation, and other related expenses.
We know this is only the beginning of Emmett's recovery. With additional surgeries, follow-up appointments, and repeated trips from Lewiston to Seattle ahead of us, we're trying to prepare for expenses that could continue for years.
As a family, we have everyday bills and financial obligations that don't stop while we're dealing with a medical emergency. We're hoping that the support we receive will help ease the financial pressure, cover expenses related to Emmett's care, and give us more room in our monthly budget to handle whatever comes next. More than anything, we want to be able to focus on our son's recovery and future without the constant fear of falling behind financially.
Every donation and share helps our family navigate a situation we never expected to face. With everything that has happened, we're worried about how we'll manage these obligations while also preparing for Emmett's ongoing medical care. Any support we receive will help ease the financial strain on our family, including helping us reduce existing debt and free up more of our monthly income for future medical expenses, travel to Seattle, household bills, and whatever else Emmett may need as he continues to recover. We want to be as financially prepared as possible for the road ahead so we can focus on our son's health and well-being without constantly worrying about how we'll make ends meet.
