Support Emmett’s Fight Against Cancer

Hi everyone! My name is Kayla Carusi and am Emmett’s auntie. My brother Antonio (26) and his fiancée Ashlyn (24), took Emmett (4) and their daughter Aliyah (1) down to the coast to have a routine surgery for Emmett completed. This surgery went well, and they were sent on their way home with no concerns until they received a call shortly after. The doctors had found some abnormalities in Emmett’s blood work, and the four of them were forced to live in Emmett’s hospital room for several days until they could complete the bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap, not knowing what to expect. Unfortunately, we have just received a formal diagnosis that nobody ever thinks will happen to their family : Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. The initial expectation is that he will be treated at the BC Children’s Hospital for around 9 months, meaning their family is being forced to temporarily relocate. This diagnosis is a nightmare come to life and has shaken our family, but our little Emmett is as strong as they come and if anyone is going to beat this it will be him! Emmett is receiving top of the line care from the incredible medical staff at BCCH, but I’ve created this fundraiser to help with the inevitable expenses Antonio and Ashlyn will incur while being on the coast, unable to work as much as they usually do. Anyone that knows them knows that they are the first people to show up to help others, and the last people to ask for it for themselves. I’m hoping we can gather support from our community to help with living expenses and other bills associated with Emmett’s fight against cancer so they can focus on their little family during this challenging time.

As you can imagine, Antonio and Ashlyn are focused on being present for their kids to minimize the shock factor and life changes that come with a situation like this, so at this time I would ask that any inquiries are directed my way for now.
