My name is Qi Liu and I have known Emma (Yan Liang over 2.5 years and we have been like sisters together since the beginning! I’m here to help Emma to raise money for her recent medical bills and here’s her story!
Yan “Emma” Liang • Born 12/4/1979
Our dear friend Emma needs our help.
Emma moved to the United States in 2010 with her green card, determined to build a better life. She eventually made her way to Colorado in 2023, where she has been working hard as a caregiver — a job she loves because she gets to support others every day.
Emma is also a devoted mother to two boys:
Jayden (14) and Lucas (22). Jayden lives with his father in North Carolina. When her ex-husband was diagnosed with cancer, he asked for Jayden to stay with him, and Emma lovingly agreed so their son could be close to his dad during that difficult time. Lucas is attending the University of Pittsburgh, studying to become a nurse.
A Sudden Emergency That Changed Everything!
On October 26th, Emma began experiencing unusual pain in her upper shoulders. By the 28th, the pain had spread to her glutes and lower legs. On the night of October 30th, after returning home around 9:15 p.m., Emma collapsed immediately upon entering her apartment.
She regained consciousness 10–15 minutes later and called her boyfriend, David, who rushed over and dialed 911. Emma was taken to Swedish Medical Center, where doctors discovered something terrifying:
Emma had three brain aneurysms.
One had already ruptured and was actively bleeding.
She was admitted to the ICU right away and underwent emergency surgery on October 31st to stop the bleeding and repair a second aneurysm located in the center of her brain. She remained in the ICU from October 30th to November 19th, fighting through complications, pain, and the long road of stabilization.
Emma still has one more aneurysm that requires surgery. It sits on the distal part of her brain, and her medical team will determine the timing after reviewing her CT scan at her upcoming appointment on December 2nd.
Why Emma Needs Help
Emma has always worked to support herself and her boys. As a caregiver, she does not have paid medical leave — if she cannot work, she has no income. She had very little savings, as most of her earnings go toward child support and basic monthly bills.
Right now, she is home recovering, waiting for home health services to begin, and preparing for another major surgery. She is unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.
What Your Support Will Help Cover
Your generosity will help Emma with:
Rent and essential monthly bills
Child support obligations she is still responsible for
Medical expenses and recovery-related costs
Transportation to upcoming specialist appointments
Basic living expenses while she heals and prepares for a second surgery
Every Donation Helps
Emma has spent her life caring for others. Now, she needs us to care for her.
Any amount — big or small — will make a meaningful difference and give her stability during one of the scariest seasons of her life.
Thank you for reading Emma’s story and for supporting her recovery.
Your prayers, shares, and kindness mean more than you know.
