My name is Kennedy, and I am raising money for my dog, Emma.
Recently, Emma was attacked by one of my other dogs. This has so far happened 3 times due to the two dogs being left in the same room by accident. It was one of the most terrifying and heartbreaking moments I have experienced as a pet owner. Because of her older age, I didn't think she was gonna survive this one, but she pulled through like the tough girl she is. She did not deserve what happened, and since then, her safety has become my top priority.
She's had a rough life. Abuse throughout her puppyhood and constant breeding of litters in a puppy mill. She chewed her way out of her old home several times before being rescued by a St Bernard Rescue Agency in Mt Hood. Despite everything, she is an absolute sweetheart.
Right now, the environment we are in is not safe for her long-term. Even with keeping the two dogs separated, I am constantly worried about another incident happening. Living with that kind of stress is not fair to Emma. She deserves to feel safe, relaxed, and at peace in her own home. Our other dog terrifies her with one glimpse of him.
That is why I am trying to move out into my own apartment as soon as possible. Having a separate space would ensure that Emma can recover fully and live without fear. It would make for 100% certainty that an attack won't happen again. It would give her the stable, calm environment she needs to heal, both physically and emotionally.
This transition comes with a lot of financial challenges. Between moving costs, deposits, and ongoing pet expenses, it is more than I can manage on my own right now. I am doing everything I can, but I need help to make this happen quickly for her safety.
Emma means everything to me. She has been there for me through so much, and now it is my turn to make sure she is protected and cared for the way she deserves.
Our other option is to rehome Emma or our other dog in favor of what's best for their health and the safety of our home. We are attached to both of them, so this option is one we'd like to avoid if we can.
Any support, whether it is a donation or simply sharing this, would mean so much to us. Thank you for helping me give Emma a safe and happy life.
