Hey! My name is Emma Blanc and I need your help to fund my first solo EP entitled “Resection.” This EP documents my health and chronic pain journey over the last four years, and how it has impacted my relationship with music and my instrument. I hope this collection of songs will resonate with a larger audience, and that it can foster a community of people who have gone through similar situations.
One month into my freshman year at music school, I began experiencing nerve pain in my hands and arms which seriously impacted my ability to play my instrument and fully participate in my studies. I began physical and occupational therapy treatment for two years to no avail, and made the difficult decision to have three major surgeries over the course of the next year. This required me to take an entire year off from school to fully recover and take time between the surgeries. This project marks my return to this art form about which I am so passionate and have had to put on hold for so long.
My school, New England Conservatory, was generous enough to award me a grant to support the making of this EP, and I am in the process of continuing to fundraise to make it possible. July 24th, 2025 marks the two year anniversary of the first surgery I received as a part of my journey to recovery. In honor of that, help me reach a goal of $2,400 by July 24th which will help me get to 80% of my total fundraising goal! Completing this project will share my own experience overcoming hardships with my health and my identity. I hope that, as others experience my music, they will find connection to me as an artist and to the community that I’m creating around my music.
