Hi, my name is Emma Ballard, and I’m an upcoming sophomore at West Virginia University majoring in Exercise Physiology. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to study abroad in Kenya to explore sustainable agriculture, international agribusiness, and global food systems firsthand.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience is part of a WVU faculty-led program that will allow me to learn directly from Kenyan farmers, business leaders, and local communities. I’ll gain hands-on experience in areas like coffee production, endangered species sustainability, and food supply chains in a developing economy — lessons that will shape my future career and expand my global perspective on agriculture. Additionally, I will get the opportunity to learn more about the diverse and unique cultures of the Kenyan, while networking and making connections with other individuals internationally.
Unfortunately, study abroad programs can be expensive, and that’s why I’m asking for your support. Your generous donation will help cover:
- Travel expenses
- Program fees & tuition
- Meals while in Kenya
- Educational materials and supplies
Every contribution — big or small — brings me one step closer to this opportunity to grow academically, professionally, and personally. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to me.
Thank you for helping make this journey possible!
With gratitude,
Emma Ballard
