My name is Jamie Changala and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friend Emily.

Yesterday Emily learned her most beloved dog and soul mate Boomer has a very aggressive cancer.

Emily is currently going through cancer treatment herself. At the age of 23 she discovered she had a rare form of breast cancer after her mother passed away from the same illness. She endured a double mastectomy at 23 and was found clear after a hard battler. Emily is now 29 and unfortunately the cancer has returned and spread throughout her body. She is currently going through radiation treatment to shrink her tumors before they can be removed. Her biggest comfort is her soul mate companion canine Boomer. She just discovered Boomer also has cancer and it’s past the point of recovery. He is currently stable and receiving steroids and pain meds, but he doesn’t have much time. The cost of the emergency vet was beyond what she could afford and now she is faced with end of life care and euthanasia and cremation. The emergency vet was almost $800 and euthanasia and cremation for a dog Boomers size is at least $500. This is a painful story to share, and I’m deeply saddened for my sweet friend. I’m very hopeful we can reach this goal to take some of the burden off Emily. Being she is going through major cancer treatment herself right now she can’t work. Her biggest comfort in life is her dog. I don’t want Emily to loose hope. I’m really hoping we can surpass the goal, but to reach it at all would be such a weight lifted for her.
